Fresh from the Red Carpet!

Last night was magical. The 2017 Oscars was the most anticipated award show of the year. Since it is a Hollywood event, you know that includes red carpet fashion. Jaw-dropping dresses, the wildest ruffles and thigh-high slits never seize to amaze us. From Armani Privé, to Alberta Ferretti and Dior, fashion and style were flowing in a blue velvet ocean. While everyone was focusing on the La La Land (Warren Beatty became the new Steve Harvey, ouch!), I was more interested in the ‘oh, la la’ effect- more precisely, the stunning gowns flaunted on the red carpet. It is not an easy task to whittle down all the amazing looks worn last night to a bite-size list of the best dresses ever but, after much debate (with me, myself and I), I have come up with personal faves from last night’s event. Here are a few of the brightest moments from the most famous red carpet.

(Emma Stone looks absolutely amazing in the gold Givenchy Haute Couture gown, paired with Tiffany & Co. jewelry. She managed to make a political statement with her accessories while remaining gorgeous. Attached to her dress was a small, barely noticeable, golden pin in the shape of Planned Parenthood’s logo. Plus, she won Best Actress for her stunning performance in La, La Land. That certainly contributed to her glow!)

(Karlie Kloss in an elegant, white Stella McCartney dress, carrying a Roger Vivier Clutch. Nirav Modi jewelry wasn’t the only accessory she was wearing last night. Notice the blue ribbon on her hip? It is the blue ACLU Ribbon, standing for American Civil Liberties Union, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization which has worked for nearly 100 years to defend and protect individual rights and liberties. In Trump era, we should all ‘Stand With the ACLU’. Bravo, Karlie!)

89th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

(Cookie came to slay! Wearing blue velvet Alberta Ferretti custom dress, paired with Nirav Modi jeweled necklace, Taraji P. Henson reenacted Angelina Jolie’s famous leg slit moment and channeled her inner Elizabeth Taylor. Aside from her brilliant performance in Hidden Figures,  it seems this actress can achieve anything she sets her mind to, including totally killing it on every single red carpet!)

(Try finding Nicole Kidman’s picture from the red carpet without her husband Keith Urban. I dare you! As a red carpet veteran, she opted for figure flattering Armani Privé embroidered dress. Not a bold choice, but she looked absolutely perfect! She is a nominee for best performance by an actress in a supporting role for ‘Lion’. Known as a kind-hearted woman, it was no issue for her to entertain lucky tourists brought to the Dolby Theater by last night’s host, hilarious comedian and a TV-host Jimmy Kimmel.)

(Speaking of bold choices, there was one gorgeous actress who decided to channel her inner goddess in Elie Saab silver haute couture gown and Forevermark jewelry. Janelle Monáe arrived in style for her first Oscars! Starring in two most amazing movies of the year, Moonlight and Hidden Figures (both nominated for Best Picture), she had every right to enjoy her vast success. Looking like the Belle of the Ball, Janelle made a great first appearance on the red (well, burgundy to be exact) carpet and I can’t wait to see what she’ll choose to wear next year.)

Chrissy Teigen

(You didn’t actually think this coverage will end without beautiful Chrissy Teigen? The I-can’t-believe-she-just-had-a-baby model/John Legend’s wife/the most witty cook, looks breathtaking in Zuhair Murad haute couture white gown. I almost double dared you to try to find her photo from last night’s ceremony without John, but El Mundo saved me. Although we are so used to her candid shots, this time she decided to strike a pose and let us all know she is still (baby or no baby) one of the hottest models out there.)
