The ‘H’ in Haute

There is a fashion designer that creates gorgeous gowns fit for a princess, inspiring day-wear with a cooler edge, embellished details and 3-D silhouettes. All-in-one Lebanese genius proves once more why he is the undisputed king of haute couture and why millions of women across the globe dream of owning at least one of his luxurious dresses. Elie Saab, like so many other prodigious talents began young and was set on a fashion career from his earliest childhood days, designing first pieces for his (very lucky!) older sister.

His way to the top was rather unusual- he spent a mere twelve months studying in Paris before leaving home to Beirut and opening his eponymous label in 1982. Lebanese elite and high society ladies soon embraced the designer and his work and began promoting his label worldwide. Regional fame followed soon after, and after 21 years of hard work, he was awarded with fashion’s highest honor- introduction into the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. The rest is pretty much history.

Combining simplicity and glamour, he manages to create timeless and luxurious pieces, whether they are haute couture of ready-to-wear. His last Haute Couture 2016/2017 collection, presented this summer, appeared as a Valentino-Marchesa mash-up. Filled with hand-sewn details, lace for which he’s most known and black silk gowns and robes with prints resembling Klimt’s artwork, he won over demanding Paris audience and fans worldwide.
