After falling in love with this collection, I can surely say that this is my pick of the fashion week season. Forget for a moment about couturier names, designer debut’s, even the amazing tribute to Sonia Rykiel with the new Spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection. There is a designer that brings minimalism to a whole different level.
She is a Tokyo-based designer, who started her collection as a private label for The Secret Closet, a shop she opened in 2007 that embodies the welcoming atmosphere as if you are in a living room. The store includes international luxury designer’s pieces and the ready-to-wear collections designed by herself.
Keiko Onose, the mastermind behing CYCLAS officially launched the brand in Pre-Fall 2016 season with her minimalist ready-to-wear collection, filled with beautiful fabrics and flattering forms. It is luxury, but with a discrete note. Japanese sensibility, luxury fabrics, beautifully refined details and clean silhouettes are reflection of real sense of modernity and pure timeless elegance. In Onose’s own words, the collection was her expression of new attitude “decent yet truly modern.” Since July, CYCLAS is available exclusively in New York at Bergdorf Goodman, and in Japan.
Onose’s ready-to-wear collection for Spring 2017 was presented a few days ago and it was “romantic and stoical”, as she described. Again, it was minimalist and classy, composed of knee-length dresses, perfect trench and asymmetric ruffles.
She is a diamond in a rough and I am looking forward to seeing more!
