She designs by instinct—and has done so very, very successfully. It all started with the hourglass dress (as seen on Alyssa Milano, Alicia Keys and Beyonce) and continued with the oversize outerwear of fall. Her personal take on wardrobe solutions is symbiotic with her customers.
“I feel like I know my customer now, what she wants from me.”
Unlike her previous designs, Victoria now decided to experiment with sequins and lace. She continues to push into such categories as outerwear and knits. Jeans for the Resort collection are made from premium Japanese raw denim in two cuts with a special button at the fly. Asymmetry continues to be one of her main themes. Some of the coat shapes were re-cut in lighter materials, as was a draped dress seen at the very end. She decided not to escape her signature body-con dress. Not sure if it is a curse or a blessing, but why would she give up on it when it was such a big hit so early in her career.
My favorites, as usual, are the clean cuts and the cape shown at the opening of the show and, of course, the long, black dress (that I desperately want and need in my closet!)
Mrs. Beckham, you proved once more why you’re the poshest of them all!
