Non-cultural and chic? Why the heck not!

I recently wrote about Janja Videc, a young and inspiring fashion designer from Slovenia. Still a rising star, Janja has a good educational background and a solid number of clients that come back to her atelier in Ljubljana’s suburbs. With a sharp eye for fitting silhouettes she does not have to worry about her (surely bright) future. Ljubljana is a pretty small town, but you can bet your Calvin Klein’s that it has nurtured some really talented fashion designers that are equally successful in their own country as they are in the rest of the world.

One of them owns a brand Akultura, literally meaning “non-culture”, yet she manages to survive on the market and is quite popular among art and culture lovers. An impressive 20- year long career shows  that Alenka Globočnik- Fabjan is a master of her trade. Alenka’s atelier and boutique are located in the heart of Ljubljana. There, she greets her clients, showcases her work, organizes private events and sells her one-of-a-kind clothing. She is an innovative trend-setter and a go to designer that knows how to tap into a customer’s brand- to get an idea of how to treat a customer, and ultimately how to sell something. Never lacking inspiration or positive energy, Alenka is surely a designer that will create signature clothing for many more years to come.

She is loyal to her aesthetics and style, and she designs recognizable pieces that meet client’s needs. I had the chance to interview her for Urban magazine, and we got to spend a great afternoon in Ljubljana’s hotel Lev. I can assure you that she is a woman that could bring a smile to your face even on the most blurry day. I fell in love with her own way of dressing and immediately realized that is she is Akultura‘s best brand ambassador.

If in Ljubljana, you can visit her store in Tavčarjeva street, no. 5.

More information about her work can be found on her WEBSITE.
